Miles for our Future Birth Mom
Snuggled up on the couch with Gulliver, the last thing I wanted to do today was run. Yet the Cowtown Half Marathon is inching closer and snuggling on the couch won't get my butt up and over the Main Street bridge. Today's miles were dedicated to our future Birth Mom. If she can make the most selfless decisions any woman could ever be faced with - I can run in the cold, wet mist. That might sound dramatic, but it pushed me. I spent over 6 miles thinking about about her and praying for her. And in turn it was the fastest pace I have run in almost a year. Good prayers and fast miles - I'll take it!

We'll Eat You Up, We Love You So!
{Oh, please don't go - we'll eat you up - we love you so!}
A few years back, we found this adorable little book shop down in the Pearl Brewery area of San Antonio. I loved it because it reminded me of the little local book stores of my childhood.
A few weeks ago, to celebrate taking the next steps on our adoption journey, we bought Baby Martin their first book "A Family Begins With A Wish". I always wondered what the first book we purchased would be and as the tears ran down my cheeks in Target the night I saw "A Family Begins With A Wish" I knew the answer.
Well today we returned to that adorable book shop down in the Pearl Brewery area of San Antonio and bought Baby Martin their own copy of one of my very favorite childhood books "Where The Wild Things Are".
I can't wait to sit down and pen a letter to them in the front cover when we get back home.

Blame It On Pinterest
I have been the worlds crappiest blogger the last month or so. I could blame it on the fact I am getting ready to kick off the busiest 6-8 weeks of the year at work. Or maybe I have been slaving away on a really awesome project and I am getting ready to do a massive blog on it. While I am getting ready for the craziest time of the year at work, I cannot blame my blogging laziness on work (even though I do have some cool projects I can post at the end of October...) I blame my less than stellar blogging on none other than....
Some of you are probably thinking, "What is she talking about?" or "Did she forget to take her meds again?" Well my friends if you are in the dark let me enlighten you about the greatest invention since whatever it was that I was addicted to before this. :)

Since finding this new addiction, not only have been able to find lots of wonderful and new crafty projects and been able to catalog favorite links, blogs etc I have:
- Planned Kipper and I's second wedding
- Designed enough nurseries for Kipper and I to have at least 15 kids
- Decided I am going to learn to cook because I keep "repinning" recipes
- Built at least 5 "dream" homes
- And started filling my dream closest for when I am finally a size 6 again
As you can see I really have become addicted! BUT I will say Pinterest has been super handy in planning things for Joy of Life at work...so my addiction can be all bad. Right? Now you want to get in on the fun too? Well, when I joined it was by invite only and I had to wait like 2 months before I was able to login in after requesting an invite. Not sure if you still have to have an invitation, but if you're interested, let me know and I'll invite you so you can get posting! If you're already on - let me know! I'd love to follow your boards!

Allie's Headband Addiction Revisited
If you remember back in early July I did a post called Hello my name is Allie and I am addicted to headbands and hair bows...about what I was going to do to help keep our bathroom from being overrun by runaway headbands and bows. I am happy to report that while there were a few bumps with my idea: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
What started out as a cool vintage frame has ended up as the perfect headband organizer! Not only does it make it easy for me to keep them in one place, but it also helps keep the flowers/bows/feathers from getting messed up like they sometimes did in the baskets under the counter!
Here is a little run down of how to do this yourself!
First turn the frame over, measure and cut the chicken wire to size. If you have a frame with ornate details you should put some padding down underneath it to protect it when you start stapling and hammering. :)
Then start attaching the chicken wire to the frame with your staple gun and trimming off excess wire. Start with one side and then do the side directly across from it second. You want to make sure that you are getting the wire pulled as tightly as you can without stretching it of shape.
After the pieces were cut I laid them out to where I was going to secure them. Once again, if you have an ornate frame, make sure to put some padding under it before the commence hammering! I put 3 nails in the L shaped corner pieces. You just need to make sure the nails you use are long enough to go though the wood pieces, but not so long the break through the frame!
And now the final product!!!!!!!!!!! While not ALL my headbands fit (I know, I know...I have over 100....some are ones I have had since High School but still love/wear them...it's a problem) all of the ones with some sort of bow/flower/feather do! The other ones stack nice and neat in a small basket under the counter with my hair clips.

Here is a little run down of how to do this yourself!
Supplies you will need:
- Frame
- Chicken Wire
- Staple Gun
- Pliers/Wire Cutter
- Fabric (I actually ended up nixing this)
- Hammer
- Nails (size depends on the frame/wood you use on the back)
- Wood pieces at least 1 inch thick (I used 4 wooden crosses I had from Micheal's and trimmed to points off with Chris' saw)
- Paint to match your frame
First turn the frame over, measure and cut the chicken wire to size. If you have a frame with ornate details you should put some padding down underneath it to protect it when you start stapling and hammering. :)
Then start attaching the chicken wire to the frame with your staple gun and trimming off excess wire. Start with one side and then do the side directly across from it second. You want to make sure that you are getting the wire pulled as tightly as you can without stretching it of shape.
When I first came up with this idea, I thought this would be final step...I didn't really think through the fact the frame to be at least an inch off the wall in order to get the headbands to slide through and hang. BUT if you are doing this for just bows or to use as a bulletin board with close-pins - That is all there is too it! :)
Since I wasn't prepared for this little roadblock Kipper helped me figure out the best way to fix the issue. I went to Hobby Lobby and Micheal's, but didn't find anything that I thought would work easily. I had decided I was going to have to take Kipper to the hardware store and we would have to get some big piece of wood to cute down. So the project sat for a week as I waited for a day we could go get this wood....
Then one night as I was getting something out of the garage a brilliant idea practically hit me in the face! (Well actually it did smack me in the forehead...I was getting a box down and another box slipped, hitting me in the forehead) I had some cheap wooden craft crosses that were the perfect thickness! So on a whim I popped the battery into Kipper's circular saw and trimmed two points off each of the crosses. (hopefully God isn't offended by this...I would like to think he would be proud of my problem solving skills)
After you have everything secured. Paint the wooden pieces to match the frame and let dry. Once it is dry you are ready to hang it up! Of course I am a sucker for bling so I decided to add a little sparkle to mine. I had some stones I took off a pair of old pageant earrings that I had sitting around for ages. They weren't flatback so they didn't work with most projects, but were perfect to fit into the little spaces on this frame.

Hello my name is Allie and I am addicted to headbands and hair bows...
If there was a 12 step program for hair accessories I think Kipper would make me go. At one time he had me count all my headbands and I think it was something like 90. Since then I have lost a few, but gained many. I don't even want to know what the total is now. Yet one thing I do know is I have a MAJOR storage issue.
See what I mean? It has gotten so bad that my one large basket has flowed over to a shoe box. Half the time I forget what I even own because things get buried etc. Bottom line: I need a better storage solution. Stat.
I remember the old frame that Momma gave me a while back that is just sitting in my bedroom (that I think I actually got from her to do something to cure this exact problem, but apparently lost interest in the idea...)
So began my research for some inspiration so I can get this project on a roll! Check out what I found! I am excited to get started and to see how it looks in the bathroom.
Stay tuned to see how it turns out......Gulliver seems to be a little concerned about how Mommy's new project is going to turn out! LOL!
